Review of Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) by Stephen P — 08 Mar 2015
Simply the greatest action/adventure movie of all-time. So much happens in under 2 hours, that it will make your head spin when you really start to think about it and break it down act by act. Harrison Ford was iconic as Han Solo in Star Wars - what does it say that this movie was so good that most people I know (including myself) identify more with him as Indiana Jones than the role that made him a star? Pretty good stuff there. The script is great, the action is existent throughout. There is great, great humor in this film - sure, some of it is a little silly, but that is what makes this movie so good. The "goal" is a great one that anyone who went to catholic school or know religious history can identify with. The villain is great in that he's not truly a total dick - but he has taken a different approach to achieving the same goal Dr. Jones is trying to accomplish. But, as good as this film is, it is truly Harrison Ford that steals the show - with news of the reboot, I am worried that some of the magic may be spoiled. Nevertheless, there is nothing I dislike about this film!
Grade = 10/10.
