Director Martin Scorsese and writers Paul Schrader and Mardik Martin fashion a powerful and uncompromising examination of a brutal character, former middleweight boxer, Jake La Motta. Robert De Niro won the Best Actor Oscar for his commanding performance.
Joe Pesci and Cathy Moriarty offer excellent support as his younger brother and spouse, who deal with Jake's brutality outside of the ring. Brilliant cinematography by Michael Chapman. An absolute masterpiece.
