Review of Raging Bull (1980) by Jesse W — 10 May 2012
A film very deceiving for some who are searching for a sports film and think they came across a boxing movie. This film not even about the sport of boxing but about a man you would never want to know. A man extremely flawed and violent that his actions in the ring persist outside of the ring.
An animalistic man whose life is very self-destructive to himself and his loved ones. Played...no, LIVED by Robert De Niro and is arguably the best performance in film history. Often violent and very disturbing, De Niro plays LaMotta so well that it becomes hard to even watch him.
An essential film for those with a love of film.
