Review of Raging Bull (1980) by Yash B — 10 May 2017
They had to stop filming (and keep paying the crew) for DeNiro to tour Europe for 4 months and put on 60 pounds to be fat for "old version" LaMotta. Scorsese apparently didn't even like boxing but made an unforgettable film about it.
I liked the fact that he didn't focus too much on the mafia elements of the story and kept you hoping that DeNiro's character would turn things around. Favorite scene was DeNiro punishing himself in the cell at the end.
