Review of Raging Bull (1980) by Petros T — 02 Sep 2011
"Raging Bull" might have come out of poor original material, but the result is pure Scorsese (in the best sense of the word). In his earlier films, he seems to be avoiding action in favour of exhaustive and exhausting dialogues.
This is not the case here. The terrific boxing moments in display make LaMotta's rise fascinating. The surpsisingly well-written conversations make his fall heartbreaking. "RB" has many things in common with previous efforts of Marty, but this is the one that stands out.
