Review of Raging Bull (1980) by Robin W — 12 Oct 2013
Depicts the life and career of middle-weight boxer Jake LaMotta aka "The Bronx Bull". This almost entirely black and white film deserves a place among Scorssesse's two other masterpieces, "Taxi driver" and "Mean streets" it is also an excellent biopic with a great ratio of screen-time distributed between the career of LaMotta and his personal life and fight against his inner demons.
That Robert DeNiro got the 1980 Oscar for best lead actor is not at all surprising, but what astonishes me is that Joe Pesci didn't get the Oscar for best supporting actor. Their individual performances are great, but what really sticks out is the incredible dynamic between the two.
