Review of Rage (2014) by Domenic D — 24 Jun 2014
This film was a bit of a surprise. I was expecting mindless car crashes and lots of shoot outs as Nic Cage again saves his loved ones. But while the film had car crashes and lots of shoot outs it.
Also had some interesting turns. Nic Cage plays Paul a man with a dark past that he seems to have left behind. Seem is the operative word. What happens after his daughter is kidnapped is hard to.
Take at time as he starts to trust no one. It's a dark hole that he enters and doesn't leave for 90 mins, things go from bad to worse as each dead-end takes him to the brink.
This is a very dark film with little sunshine but I can tell the film makers had something to say, while at times the themes and some of the story gets buried under all the mindless car crashes.
And shoot outs, by the end of the film you realize that the past never truly stays dead.
