Review of Raees (2017) by Asmaa A — 29 Jan 2019
I find this to be the rise of a new decade for SRK, the transition that he needed in his career to mark his maturity. The look, the voice and the acting are unprecedented in any other movie. I am not saying he didn't act well before but that his roles should keep up with his age and that's what he did in Raees.
The boy Shahrukh we all loved and danced with has become a man, and what a sight that is. I've watched all of SRK's movies and this is the least cliche and most bad-ass he's appeared until now.
A brilliant performance and chemistry by and among the cast. Beautiful soundtrack and cinematography as well as a smart and engaging dialogue. No-one and I mean no-one is a match for SRK when it comes to acting capabilities in which he brings so much passion and emotions.
I think people forgot his ability to portray the anti-hero from his early career roles of Baazigar, Anjaam, Josh and Duplicate. All roles that showed that he isn't just a pretty boy spreading his hands in Punjabi fields.
