Review of Radio Days (1987) by Philip R — 29 Jun 2007
There is a certain undeniable sweetness and innocence that runs throughout this film. As far as feel-good movies go, this should be considered among the best. The film is told by Allen (through narration) and is a reflection on his childhood, during the fascinating first half of the 1940s. The film captures hopes and dreams and incorporates the stories and programs of the radio and their impact on the lives of a large, loud, poor new york family. The film is rife with strong characters and entertaining vignettes/anecdotal incidents which are woven beautifully.
This film basically captures innocence and how wonderful the little moments in life are that wind up "beefing up" our lives and memories. Fantastic!
