Review of Radio Days (1987) by Bob V — 03 Apr 2011
This is a great nostalgic piece that looks back to golden age of radio during the WWII era. It's filled with humor as well as pathos and the way Woody Allen is able to connect each vignette is a thing of beauty.
There isn't one performer that stands out in the whole bunch, but there are so many different actors in the ensemble that you can't just pick one. I really loved this movie. Allen's narration and the great choice of music make the movie all the more better.
One can feel that this may be one of his most personal films, yet it does owe a great debt to another film that looks back at one's own past, Fellini's Amarcord. Pretty cool to see a young Seth Green in one of his first roles as an Allen-esque character.
Also check out Julie Kavner (best known as the voice of Marge Simpson on The Simpsons) as the mom. This movie gets my highest recommendations, it's such a fun movie. 10/10.
