Review of Radio (2003) by Leonard F — 23 Aug 2009
I think Cuba Goodings agent may have gone full retard. About 13 years ago, Gooding won an Oscar for his role as a charismatic football player in Cameron Crowe's "Jerry Maguire." So, of course, the natural thing to do is to never return to that sort of role.
"Radio" marks Gooding's return to football movies, not as a a cocky athelete but a horribly miscast as a handicapped person. At the very least, "Radio" allows Gooding to come full circle.
If it weren't for the strength of man-god Ed Harris, this movie would be a complete disaster. This is a hackneyed, cliche and self-righteous piece of work based on a true story of genuine power. Boo.
