I guess this was America's answer to BMX Bandits, or vice versa, but there isn't a craze from the 80s that hasnt been covered by a film like this, same sh*t different smell dont they say. In fact, if you put Ralph Macchio on a bike, you'd be close to working on how this film plays out.

Young boy, on the outside, takes up BMX'ing, his mother dissaproves, meets the tough guys who are his opposition, meets the girl, gets the girl, fights against the odds and wins. Oh, did I give away the ending, well its not the ending that counts here, its the journey and the inspirational BMX montages of various flips, ollies and jumps.

It is as its title suggests, Rad. Not to mention, it features a soundtrack entirely made up of pre-Whispering Jack, John Farnham, who is in full 80s soundtrack mode here, asking us at one point to "Break The Ice Within", I'm assuming he is talking metaphorically there of course.

Needless to say, for BMX enthusiasts, and I know you're out there...this film will blow your mind, for the rest of you, this film blows.
