The acting, particularly Anne Hathaway's powerfully intense, impressively compelling performance, and with a terrific, equally powerful and nuanced supporting performance by Rosemarie DeWitt as the titular character, boosts this stylish and depthful character study crafted brilliantly by Jonathan Demme.
