Review of Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Tex P — 20 Nov 2010
I will admit I did not finish this one...maybe it got better after I shut it off, but I'm not quite sure how. It was boring, really boring. No one would have some kind of wedding rehearsal party in which everyone they know gives some kind of speech for why they like you and are happy you are getting married.
..and if they did, why put ALL OF IT IN THE FILM? It soon became a marathon of every bad speech you have ever heard at a wedding. Some of them were realistic, I'll grant you that, but by the 50th speech it had run its course and my mom and I were just bored and couldn't take anymore.
I will not know if the movie gets better after that, because about 45 minutes into the film I still didn't care about any of the characters, because I was just watching people EXPLAIN TO ME why THEY liked the characters.
This is not an interesting way to make a film. Plus the people in the film just seemed unrealistic and that sort of fake dysfunctional you see only in the movies. Poor rich white people, how do they cope!?
