Review of Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Christian John V — 02 Jan 2011
A sitcom episode's worth of story bloated to two flabby hours of go-nowhere acting exercises. Reasonably good if strenuous performances. Loose suggestion of a script. Too much improv. Not enough editing.
No discernable direction (the credit is "director," Jonathan, not "bystander.") A writer is generally expected to come up with some dialogue, Jenny, not cough up an improv premise and let the actors wing it.
By the end you're glad it's finally over. By the 90-minute mark you wish it were.
