Review of Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Richard H — 13 Feb 2011
Anne Hathaway was good. But it's just, really, a boring movie. Scenes drag on for too long (hello rehearsal dinner scene). We don't really learn much about the characters: apparently Kim is somewhat famous but we never find out how or why, why does everyone seem to have such a standoff-ish attitude toward Kim and Rachel's mother? Let's face it, the only thing we learn about any of the characters is why no one wants to let Kim drive. And the handheld camera was annoying and served no purpose: the whole movie, shaky handheld camera...am I watching a beginning film student's work or a bootleg cam from the theater?
However, I will grant that the film has what should go down as the greatest dishwasher loading race in cinematic history.
