Review of Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Katherine P — 02 Jun 2011
Strikes the perfect balance between giving the audience hope amidst such despair. This tremendous honesty is what makes Rachel so powerful. Each and every member of the Buchman family is absorbing and Hathaway's beautifully subtle performance is heartbreaking.
Something old (cinema-verite), something new (Buddhist-African wedding), something borrowed (Robert Altman), and something blue (the family) - Demme has crafted the recipe for a beautiful disaster.
