Review of Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Benjamin W — 17 Jun 2011
Since this whole movie seemed to be shot with a hand-held camera, the audience is cast as the awkward observer of a family that makes me glad that mine is very functional. The problem being that as a silent observer, you can't jump into the scene and tell the characters that they're being selfish or inappropriate or just plain crazy.
And yet, perhaps this style that really brings forth the realism of a family gathering was what gave this movie its buzz to begin with.
