Review of Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Francis R — 05 Jun 2012
Anne Hathaway gives a powerful, Oscar-nominated performance as recovering drug-ball, Kym. We really get a sense of Kym's desire to change for the better, however, she doesn't want to change *who she is*.
This makes the character very interesting and different from most recovering addict films. Trying his best to cope with Kym's return and his other daughter, Rachel, and her wedding is Paul, played by Bill Irwin in the performance of his career.
This was my favorite film of 2008 and is certainly director Jonathan Demme's best film.
