Review of Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Marc L — 31 Jul 2012
Rachel Getting Married - CATCH IT (A-).
Rachel Getting Married is about a young girl returning home for her sister's wedding from rehab. In two days getting back and meeting everyone in the family will push her through the limits. She realizes how her actions have affected her family so deeply that even if they try to forget they just can't get over it. Trapped between her sister, father and mother, she tries to find some peace of mind for her to start all over again.
Anne Hathaway delivers the finest performance of her career. The girl who went big with the princess diaries has come a long way. And it's nice to see that she expanded her career while not sticking to only Rom-Com. Rosemarie DeWitt is a brilliant actress, I have seen her first time in United States of Tara and I was blown away. She was soo natural and brilliant as co-depending sister of Tara. Now watching her here is just another good surprise, can't wait to see her with Emily Blunt in Your Sister's Sister.
All the other supporting cast is great and since the direction and camera work is very natural so it all seems really real. Though I think ending was little too long, 20mints of non-stop music was little too much.
On the Whole, it's a well crafted movie with superb performance by Anne Hathaway and Rosemarie DeWitt.
