This is a dreadful and annoying movie about whiny rich people that romanticizes addiction. It's drenched in that Jonathan Demme white guilt where all cultures are represented and all the minority characters are saintly and sage, yet curiously soulless.
The acting is good but the self-indulgent writing and nonstop world music make the movie interminable. If KCRW were a movie, this would be it.
