Review of Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Luz Mar O — 01 Aug 2010
Maybe I am addicted to drama too and that's why I liked this movie so much, the chance to see life as close to reality as possible, a vouyeristic pleasure. I liked how the movie kind of showed that even if your past is always haunting you, it is neither fair nor logic to use its damaging presence to justify your present mistakes, or am I trying too hard to interpret the plot? Perhaps they got carried away with the "documentary" style, after all the important thing was the wedding (look at the title) and yet you were asking yourself "ok, too much of the music, and the dancing, and the partying.
.."; but it really emphasized the protagonist's feeling of alienation. Hathaway acting (finally!) in a serious project... a pleasant surprise.
