Review of Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Wes S — 14 Jul 2011
Anne Hathaway takes a step away from the wholesome image in this dark and sobering real life drama about a family who is holding on by a thread after tragedy occurs leaving everyone shattered. When hope shows up in the form of a wedding, the bride Rachel (Rosemarie DeWitt) has mixed emotions when her volatile and outspoken sister Kym (Anne Hathaway) shows up from rehab to attend the wedding.
Tensions start to build within the family due to a tragedy that occurred some time ago, for which some in the family hold Kym responsible. Great performances from everyone, especially Anne Hathaway who really shows her talents in this dark and complicated role.
