Review of Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Jason E — 22 Oct 2012
Quite challenging to watch in some places, either you feel for the dysfunctional family not sure how best to deal with the homecoming of the addict daughter, or you feel the intense awkwardness that she feels being surrounded by people who are not sure how to handle her. It's not a comedy, but it is full of energy and funny moments inbetween some dark moments. It feels ad libbed in places which gives this a very natural feel. At times I thought I was watching a fly-on-the-wall documentary.
One truly amazing wedding cake though - that's the one thing I will always remember about this film.
