Review of Race to Witch Mountain (2009) by Jy S — 25 Mar 2010
Andy Fickman's Race to Witch Mountain is everything a PG Disney film should be.The pacing for this 90+ minute production is fairly quick. The characters are always on the move and there is very little down time to get to know the characters.
Of course, that doesn't mean that they are underdeveloped. The story elements and dialogue are simple and straight to the point. There is no mystery and secrecy with anything and all is revealed clearly at the appropriate times.
The film does have its share of effects and action. Both range from so-so to pretty good. There is nothing overly impressive. The Rock squeezes by, as he seems to be just going through the motions. However, he finds a way to entertain every now and then.
Carla Gugino, Alexander Ludwig, and AnnaSophia Robb all deliver with their characters. Robb's mixture of dialogue and line delivery is fantastic. "You already know the answers, Jack Bruno. My brother and I are indeed not from your planet.
"Race to Witch Mountain isn't anything to brag about. It is very kid friendly and makes for a nice family film. This is Disney after all.
