Review of Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002) by Adam P — 19 Jan 2009
First a fact for you: In 1930's Australia, it was legal for a white man, supposed Protector of the Aboriginal's, to take Aboriginal children from their families, and place them in a camp to be taught the ways of the white people so as to effectively remove the Aboriginal blood.
That horrifying fact is what leads to this movie's inspirational view of three young Aboriginal girls escape from such a camp, and their demanding 1500 mile trek across the desert back to their village.
