Review of Rabbit Hole (2010) by Ola S — 23 Apr 2011
I guess the worst thing that can happen to you is losing a child. This happend to Becca and Howie eight months ago. They are dealing with it differently. He keeps watching a film with his son in the cellphone all the time. She wants to give the child's clothes away and tries to remove its fingerprints from the house.
A teenage guy has run over the child with his car. It wasn't his fault, but it's hard to like somebody who's killed your kid. Becca meets the guy, who is making a comic book about his trauma, masked as going through the rabbit hole to find a father in a parallel reality. And that finally makes it possible for her to live. That comic book is her rabbit hole.
Extremely strong emotions here, but seldom screamed by the very good Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart, although Eckhart overacts a little. In the end Katharsis is there. The parents decide that tomorrow they will do something else. Not a life without sorrow, but a sorrow with life included. Which was impossible before the rabbit hole.
