Review of Rabbit Hole (2010) by Dan S — 28 Apr 2011
The story of a married couple who are grieving the recent loss of their 4 year old son after a tragic accident. The performances by Kidman and Edkhart are both grand. The screen-play itself is a fair one that covers most elements of bereavment and how to not so much recover (as one never really does) but how to live and go on, as well the feelings of those around them that want to offer comfort and don't know how.
Perhaps nothing new here and surely there have been better scripts in films before that deal with grief, but the performances here make it worth a watch. As a past volunteer at a grief center as a peer counselor I find they hit all the right points, yet the screen-play as a whole left me flat.
