Review of Rabbit Hole (2010) by Alex P — 30 Jun 2013
This is a "B+" (90 marks) movie. DVD. It is about loss, a son who passed away accidentally, and how his parents deal with it and live on. At the end, the loss will become bearable because this is what life is, which can carry any losses as long as you let yourself flow with it naturally without trying to interrupt the river on your behalf.
One interesting thing in this film is that it shows us the different methods people use to help them recovering from the losses they suffer. For examples, faith (God has chosen the dead to become his new angel, this is comforting but silly), keeping everything in the house the same way before his son's dead, taking drugs or just end the relationship in order to move on.
These are things people do to help keeping them afloat on the impermanent sea of life. If there is indeed a God, to me, it is the mysterious Life , from which we receive things (or persons) and to which they return.
Yes, at the end we just need to accept our losses just as we have accepted life at the very beginning. (Highly recommended for anyone who has lost someone or something in life.).
