Don't know about the Tamil version but Mani Ratnam has really goofed up with the hindi version. First and foremost the story is so poorly written by Vijay Krishna Acharya (TASHAN - Director). Ratnam should have gone with Anurag Kashyap. Even the screenplay ain't convincing. Abhishek seems lost can't blame him...he proves he's a bad actor with each film. Aishwarya is the damsel in distress and is pretty much o.k. The only positve is the Cinematography by Santosh Sivan and V.Manikandan and beautiful locations.
So stay away from the Hindi version.
