Review of Raavanan (2010) by Abid H — 15 Aug 2010
Not the usual standard we expect from Mani Ratnam. The film lacks a soul, editing is poor and the film looks like it was sliced together by a first year film student.
The look of the film is excellent, locations are superb but all the actors in the film are average at best. I'm a fan of abhishek and he could have done so much more with this character but apart from giving us a caricature of a villian, he fails. However he is ten times better than aishwarya, who just seems to there to look glamourous; she is abducted and kept in the jungle for weeks but in every scene she is fully dolled up, This seems to be the whole point of the movie, to make the stars look good, and it fails at even that.
