Review of Raajneeti (2010) by Susheel M — 04 Jun 2010
Poor characterisation, artificially induced pace into the movie, deliberate scene_jump_editing, direct lift off of ideas from movies like Virasat (Thevar Magan), Godfather and Ingloreous Basterds does not really gel into the plot which was supposedly the most debated, resembling the biggest names in great Indian Political scene.
With the promos and the reputation the movie and its director carried had created a huge expectation and the movie fails big time.
On a lighter note - the movie looks like a desi adaptation of Terminator - a man(machine) coming down from elsewhere to save someone goes on a killing spree.
I thought its the most unimaginable idea of Ashutosh Gowarikar to make a desi NASA Scientist working on Global Precipitation System to fly down and stay back in India to generate electricity for a village using a dynamo.
Mr.Prakash Jha beats the idea by miles! He makes a PhD in Some_Random_18thCentury_Poetry student to come down to India and redefine the Political scene in an Indian state using no bigger weapon than Betrayal.
