Review of Raajneeti (2010) by Sri Raghu Kishore P — 04 Jun 2010
Heavily inspired by the compelling drama and riveting plot of "The Mahabharat", with a few ideas picked up from the conniving blood thirsty quest for power from Ram Gopal's "Sarkar" and some loosely based references to characters from the Gandhi family, director "Prakash Jha" manages to dish out an edge of the seat gripping screen-play and story telling experience that Indian cinema hasnâ??t been witness to for quite a while.
Raajneeti completely inspired by the Mahabharat is again an extraordinary modern day political saga of sibling rivalry, diplomatic maneuvering and shifting of human values culminating in a direct confrontation on the Electoral battlefield of Kurukshetra.
While the casting seems more delibrate to appeal to a wider audience, despite its shortcomings, the director manages to extract some very fine performances from his set pieces....Manoj Bajpai as "Duryodhan", Nana Patekar, as "Krishna" and "Ranbir" as "Arjun" deliver brilliant performances.
Katrina in her desperate attempt to be perceived as serious actress still has a long way to go....All, in all the movie is a edge of the seat thriller full of unexpected twists and turnsâ?¦..Watch it !!!
