Review of Quiz Show (1994) by Brett B — 23 Jun 2008
"A good name is better to be chosen than great riches . . . " Having much more the feel of a play than a movie, Quiz Show is one of those rare productions with no flaws. Redford again displays finesse in presenting moral questions in a way that is not patronizing or preachy.
Featuring John Turturo, and Ralph Fiennes (two actors who never fail to deliver the goods) The movie is an engrossing morality tale with many levels, but is essentially a vehicle to equate the advent of television with the loss of American innocence.
I suppose the movie might ask; "Would Kant own a television?" - I dont think he'd have a problem with it.
