Review of Quills (2000) by Frouke E — 29 Oct 2007
A very disturbing and yet erotic movie about Marquis de Sade. Not for the faint hearted. Rape, torture, mutilation, necrophelia and murder. It's got everything. De Sade (portrayed brilliantly by Geoffrey Rush), who in these days would be known as a just the next basement-dwelling perv, was a popular writer of violent pornography.
A crime you could be locked up for in an asylum apparently in the late 18th century. His chambermaid (Winslet) smuggles out his writings, much to the dislike of Emperor Napoleon. A cold-hearted investigator (Caine) comes to supervise the asylum.
This is an utter must-see about the likely non-existence of good and evil.
