Review of Quills (2000) by Stephanie B — 11 Nov 2007
I love films that portray the true life stories of freethinkers and libertines who defy societal norms. In this film, the life of the Marquis de Sade is presented, detailing his struggles to write provocative works of erotic prose in the face of governmental opposition.
This is also an eloquent social commentary on censorship. This production is deliciously controversial, and the superb acting beautifully complements the areas in which the issues affect human lives.
