Review of Quills (2000) by Ramona F — 03 May 2008
Always an admirer of Geoffrey Rush, I had been after this film for quite awhile. My immediate response was complete awe at Rush's performance as the Marquis de Sade. It might be one's fear that he would be the film's only shining star, but I was surprised to see just as stunning performances from Kate Winslet and Joaquin Phoenix.
The film is very sexy and erotic, and definately not for those with more innocent dispositions. However, the film was able to turn what could have been merely raunch and porn into a thoughtful, comedic, and ultimately tragic film.
I highly recommend to any fan of great actors.
