Review of Quills (2000) by Mickey K — 17 Jun 2010
I had heard of this film for some time, and I've always been somewhat interested in how fucked up Marquis de Sade was. My girlfriend put it on for me and it's intriguing enough. Besides it being a really entertaining film, it touches base on a lot of themes, especially ones dealing with the spectrum of insanity and libertarianism.
I feel because of the subject matter, though, it could've been a little bit more fucked up. I felt it was a little tame. And the ending was a bit contrived. But regardless of those quips, Rush is pretty spot-on and charming in this.
Watch it so you see Geoffrey Rush write on walls with his own shit.
