Review of Quills (2000) by Eytan D — 03 Jul 2013
Philip Kaufman's adaptation of Doug Wright's play presents a portrait of the Marquis de Sade that is brave, intensely sexual, humorous, and most of all, intriguing. All of the performances are terrific, from Kate Winslet's virginal but rebellious Madeleine to Joaquin Phoenix's troubled Coulmier to Geoffrey Rush's wild performance as the Marquis.
A very good film.
