Review of Quest for Fire (1981) by Cody G — 19 Jun 2007
OH, man, I love this movie! Partly becaue the storyline is so simple (cavemen struggling to on a -ready for it- quest for fire!!).
There is absolutely no language of any kind except guttural noises and gestures (ironically coined from linguist Anthony Burgess).
The film is beautiful to behold, and makes the viewer appreciate the natural beauty of the earth as it once could have been in its first, unadulterated state. Also presented is man's struggle during a time when the chief goal was- SURVIVAL, by way of fire.
Jean-Jacques Annaud has brought life into what may very well have been the "unfilmable.".
