Review of Quest for Fire (1981) by Jon G — 15 Feb 2009
What seemed to start out as a parody of silly cavemen movies turned into a riveting adventure film about the dawn of man and the earliest flickers of civilization. Jean-Jacques Annaud's film about three prehistoric men and their search to capture fire contains no words of English but thanks to great storytelling and convincing acting, we still know what's going on.
There are no major plot twists, no garish, effects driven action sequences; just a film dedicated to showing what it might've been like back then...80,000 years ago.
