Review of Quest for Camelot (1998) by Lee C — 11 Mar 2010
Starts out nicely, with some good Celtic-style music. But you know there's something wrong when the main villain breaks the fourth wall by saying "Charming sing along". The characters are bland and lifeless. And even though Eric Idle is funny in this, the two-headed dragon is really a weak carbon copy of Aladdin's genie. On top of that, there are a million things in this movie that don't make sense or are never explained. What is up with the Planet X plant life in Camelot?
Of course some of the animation is nice and the two leads are likable but overall, this film just falls flat on its face. What a waste of the talents of Gary Oldman and John Gielguld. What were you guys thinking?
