Review of Queen of Blood (1966) by James T — 06 Mar 2010
In the future the human race has been contacted by aliens. The aliens are on their way for a visit but then crash on Mars due to unknown circumstances. So the humans fly out to investigate. Within the ship remains they find a only one survive: a strange, silent green woman with large white hair shaped like an acorn cup. So they take her on their ship... they try force feeding her a cookie and... I don't know, my attention started to drift at this point. But I do know the green lady proves herself to be dangerous, escapes from the hands of her human capturers and starts to wreak havoc on the ships crew. There's not really much more to it than that.
Although this film is old and low budget, the sort of thing which disappears into B film archives it has gain some notice and stayed remember beyond what is normal for a film like this. It even has a small Wikipedia article. The reason for this is that some notable actors are in it. Namely Dennis Hopper and Basil Rathbone. So it's fun to see them young and in such an old cheesy flick.
Other than its cast Queen of Blood does have some merits. The effects and artwork are very fun in their retro sci-fi style. But unfortunately little else. Even the "sexy" alien was a let down. If green sci-fi women are your thing I suggest you stick with Orion slave girls.
