Review of Queen Margot (1994) by Jules L — 25 Nov 2007
Grandiose, melodramatic and swashbuckling, this French costume drama is a classic of modern European cinema. When English period pieces tend to the polite and theatrical this film is blood soaked, passionate and visceral.
The whole thing has a gripping thriller plot, based on the Saint Bartholemew's day massacre and it's aftermath. superb cast (adjani and anglade are on career best form). Gripping, swashbuckling and sexy.
