Review of Queen Margot (1994) by Nancy T — 04 Aug 2009
It was good to watch that movie again. It has not aged a bit since it's release in 1994. The actors are incredible but go for the european director's cut wich is much better with almost 40 min more of footage.
Jean-Hughes Anglade is wonderful as the spoiled disturbed king of France and Virna Lisi got the Actress Golden Palm at Cannes film festival for her interpretation of Catherine de Medicis. The movie was awarded by the Jury's Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and Isabelle Adjani, of course, got the best actress César for playing the title role.
This is Patrice Chéreau's only big budget film and probably his best.
