Review of Queen & Country (2015) by Robert D — 23 Feb 2015
John Boorman's long-gestating sequel to Hope and Glory is a very personal and reflective film from the honored director, that may very well prove to be his swan song. It's a film about post-war England that avoids being depressing, and instead it's a bittersweet film about romance, and false honor.
Humorous, histrionic, and modest in terms of cinematic techniques, Queen and Country isn't one of Boorman's best films, but it doesn't need to be.
