Review of Quatermass and the Pit (1967) by Kevin R — 06 Jul 2015
I never had a career...only a job.
A subway tunnel breaks open and some strange bones are discovered buried in the wall. The bones turnout to have strange powers that often overcome those close to them. A famous scientist is brought in to research the bones and he quickly uncovers the number of bones and the impact of the discovery. Can he stop people from taking the wrong steps and unleashing a power on the Earth like humans have never seen?
"They were coming!".
"What were?".
"Them!".
Roy Ward Baker, director of Inferno, The Snows of Kilimajaro, The Vampire Lovers, Dr Jekyll & Sister Hyde, Scars of Dracula, and The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampire, delivers Five Million Years to Earth. The storyline for this picture was unique but I didn't find it particularly interesting (it was just okay). The acting was solid and the cast includes James Donald, Andrew Keir, Julian Glover, and Peter Copley.
"He has no business here.".
"Doesn't he?".
I randomly found this on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and had to DVR it. This was just okay and definitely could have been better. There were some unique aspects that were entertaining; but as a whole, this is very average. I wouldn't go to out of my way to see this.
"Nicknamed for "The Devil.".
Grade: C+.
