Review of Quartet (2012) by Andrew L — 28 Jun 2013
This movie surprised me quite a bit. I was expecting to enjoy this movie but I didn't expect to appreciate it as much as I did. The story is mostly directed towards the older crowd, as it is about retired musicians who live in a musician-specific retirement home.
While this idea might seem dull, it really isn't. Due to the great script and the comedic timing of Billy Connolly, this movie excels at being a heartwarming and goofy drama/comedy. The directing was good by Dustin Hoffman but the story was simple enough where Hoffman didn't have to go above and beyond to make the movie great.
I will pay attention to his next directorial effort because of this movie. The acting was pretty good throughout. Definitely worth the rent.
