Review of Quartet (2012) by Margarita S — 11 Mar 2014
This film is slow to start. It has a very simple premise and depends on good character development to keep viewers invested. In the beginning, some of the main characters feel more like stereotyped caricatures than real people - the charmer, the curmudgeon, the Diva.
Once the characters are all introduced and the storyline starts to unfold, it picks up. Thematically rich, albeit a bit heavy handed at times in its approach, this is a movie that charms.
