Review of Quarantine 2: Terminal (2011) by Kyle L — 25 May 2012

Quarantine 2 Terminal is a huge improvement over it's predecessor and it is also one of the better Direct to DVD sequels since Wrong Turn 2 and 4 along with Hostel Part III. I seriously enjoyed Quarantine 2 and this movie has a really original plot and the plot is a little bit different to the sequel to the sequel to the original Spanish Horror film REC 2.

This movie is about a group of passengers who are on a flight to Nashville suddenly takes a terrifying turn of events when one of the passengers become infected with some sort of virus and when the plane lands they are suddenly Quarantined by the CBDT and the other passengers are soon getting infected as well and the ones who aren't infected must try to escape before they all die.

I did enjoy Quarantine 2 and it has a lot of improvements over the first movie and the producers of the first movie did a better job with they're work on this movie than the first film. To be honest I've watched the first movie and I think that John Erick Dowdle did a good job with that film but the new director for Quarantine 2 seriously did a better job compared to John Erick Dowdle's work on the first movie which was a remake of the Spanish film REC.

This movie has a lot of good moments and it is also a really neat Direct To DVD sequel. What I did like about Quarantine 2 is that the setting of the film is completely different and better as well instead of using the old apartment complex building in Los Angeles this sequel takes place in an airplane and an airport instead of the old building like what REC 2 did because the sequel to the Spanish Horror film takes place in the same location where the first movie took place as well but I prefer the idea of this sequel compared to the sequel to the original Spanish Horror film and it was a really good idea to make the setting of the sequel to the American remake in an airplane to an airport it's probably the smartest idea I've ever heard for the Americans.

What I also like about Quarantine 2 is that they're using the same found footage style that the original Spanish film did and I like that idea and it really makes the movie look good. What I also like about Quarantine 2 is that the film also has a lot of suspenceful scenes and there are also lots of intense moments that will make you jump plus there are lots of genuine scares as well in this film.

The scene where Jenny gets chased by the other infected passenger is one of the most suspenceful scenes in the film. The scene where Ed almost got bitten by one of the infected pilots of the plane and George was able to save him by pressing a green button is a really intense scene in the film.

And the other scenes like the scene where Jenny's friend shows up is a really scary scene even the scene where the infected Henry attacks Jenny is one of the scariest parts in the film and the last part where George almost got bitten by the infected Jenny is one of the scariest parts of the movie oh and let's not forget the scene where the infected captain tries to attack Jenny is one of the suspenceful parts in the film.

Also the other good thing about Quarantine 2 is that the film also uses the thermal vision instead of the night vision which is really cool for the film plus I seriously enjoyed the idea of using the thermal vision so that the film can have a different feel compared to REC's ideas.

Other than that the other good things about Quarantine 2 is that the film also has a lot of good old fashioned gore effects although the film itself isn't that gory but there are certain gory scenes in the film like the scene where the CBDT gets bitten by the infected old man is one of the most graphic and goriest scenes in the film.

The scene where the first infected passenger bites Paula's nose is one of the goriest parts of the film as well and the most suspenceful scene in the film as well. The acting is great and I think the acting in this film is better than the acting of other Direct to DVD movies usually most Direct to DVD movies doesn't have any good acting at all but I do like the acting in this film so far.

Also the budget of this film is great and the movie itself is shot on a tighter budget instead of a lower budget just like the first movie shot on a tighter budget which makes the movie look good so far.

Director and writer John Pogue(writer of Ghost Ship) seriously did a good job on making a good Direct to DVD sequel and he really shows talent when it comes to the Horror genre and he really did a better job with his work with this movie so far so he should make a part 3 for this film because he was good when he directed this film so far.

Overall Quarantine 2 Terminal gets a 10/10 because this film is full of suspenceful and intense scenes plus this movie is also a huge improvement over the first film and the sequel to the original Spanish Horror film REC 2.
